This was a university project I did during my 3rd year. I wanted to create an environment for a 1st Person Point of View (POV) horror video game, that is set in a Build-a-Bear Workshop style shop. I took inspiration in theme and style from video games like Poppy Playtime and Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Storyline:
Five years after surviving a catastrophic fire at Cotton Heart Workshop, a Build-a-Bear–style store where you once worked as a night cleaner, you return for one final shift before its demolition, only to find the ruined, monochrome interior eerily responsive to your torch, which briefly restores colour and awakens memories of the past. As you perform routine cleaning tasks, the workshop subtly rearranges itself, revealing fragments of the night of the fire—children’s laughter, birthday decorations, and moments of panic—until the truth resurfaces: a child named Leo was trapped, called out to you, and you fled, believing you would find another way back, but never could. A charred teddy embodying Leo’s memory follows you, quietly demanding honesty rather than revenge, leading you to a pristine party room preserved in your guilt. In the final confrontation, the torch becomes a tool of truth, forcing you to relive the moment and choose between accepting and forgiving yourself, denying thepast and living in emotional erasure, or remaining forever as a guardian boundto the memory—each ending shaped by how you confront your guilt and loss.
